Ég er lærður myndlistarmaður og hönnuður, lauk Mastersgráðu í Iðnhönnun árið 1998 í Domus Academy í Mílanó á Ítalíu og Diploma í Myndlist árið 1991 við L’école des Arts Décoratifs í Strassborg í Frakklandi.

Ég hef haldið einkasýningar og tekið þátt í fjölda samsýninga hér heima og erlendis. Hef ég staðið að framkvæmd nokkurra þeirra og þá einnig hannað boðskort, bæklinga og plaköt tengd þeim sýningum (starfa einnig sem auglýsingahönnuður). Einnig hef ég hannað verðlaunagripi fyrir Þróunarfélag miðborgarinnar og Nýsköpunarsjóð forseta Íslands og eru verk eftir mig í eigu opinbera aðila, þ.á.m. EFTA í Brussel og íslenska sendiráðsins í Tókyo.

Verk mín vísa í senn til hversdagslegra hluta og náttúrulegra forma, fyrirbæri úr frumformum jarðarinnar og þjóðtrúar, eftirmyndir með nýtt hlutverk í samtíðinni. Í mótun verkanna er örfínn þráður á milli náttúrulegra og menningarlegra þátta. Litirnir í verkunum kalla fram áferð litbrigða náttúrunnar, sem eru óteljandi og alls ekki eintóna. Allt frá óttalegum og fjandsamlegum eða eins og óspillt uppspretta undir köldum klaka.

Ég leik mér á jaðri handverks og iðnaðar, ekkert af verkum mínum eru nákvæmlega eins. Ég leyfi handverkinu að njóta sín. Ég vil að það sjáist að hlutirnir eru handgerðir, hvort eru renndir, steyptir eða handmótaðir.

 

 

I am an artist and designer, with a degree in Industrial design from the Domus Academy in Milan, Italy (1998) and a Diploma in Fine Arts from L’Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, France (1991).

I have held and participated in numerous exhibitions, both in Iceland and abroad. I have worked in the preparation and installation of some of them and also designed the invitations, brochures and posters related to the exhibitions (I also work as graphic designer). I have also designed awards for The Reykjavik City Planning Committee and The President’s Innovation Award. My works are in public ownership by institutions such as E.F.T.A. in Bruxelles and the Icelandic Embassy in Tokyo.

My work indicate at the same time the ordinary objects and natural forms, the phenomenon of the primary forms of the earth and the ethnography, I create them a new role in the era. In the shaping of the works there is a very fine thread between natural and cultural factors. The colors trigger is the texture tone of the nature, which are countless and not at all monotone. From feared and hostile to clean source underneath the ice.

I work on the border between craftmanship and industrial production. None of my works are exactly alike and I prefer them to carry the signs of their manufacturing process, whether they are thrown, cast or formed by hand.
