Varða (Vörður) vísa í senn til hversdagslegra hluta og náttúrulegra forma. Vörður (vasar) eru lokuð form sem geta verið vegvísir eða minnismerki um þá látnu. 

Út frá þessum almennum forsendum forma, lita og stærðar umbreytast þessar grjóthrúgur í ásýnd og raunverulegur þungi hlutana er fráleitur í samanburði við upprunalega hugmyndina. Í samræmi við hugmyndina, ákvaðst stærðin á vasaformunum við stærð íslenskra flóru. Litirnir kölluðu fram áferð litbrigði náttúrunnar sem eru óteljandi og alls ekki eintóna, allt frá óttalegir og fjandsamlegir eða eins og óspillt uppspretta undir köldum klaka. Eftir standa hlutir með sögu.
